Coach Cookie

Cookie Mitchell is a Tampa native and has been involved in sports all of her life. She attended
Spencer Memorial Baptist School (now Tampa Bay Christian Academy) where she was the only Elementary School aged student playing on the Middle School teams. In Middle School she played all sports and during her 8th Grade year served as Team Captain on every squad. She was awarded Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Athlete of the Year, RAM of the Year, MVP for Volleyball, Basketball and Cheerleading, All Tournament Team in Cheerleading and her
Basketball team won their district’s Championship. Cookie attended Tampa Preparatory for
high school where she played Volleyball, Basketball and ran Track. She was on the 1985 State
Final Four Basketball team. She was also a member of the 1985 & 1986 1A State Championship team and qualified for the Track District Meet in Hurdles & the 4 x 100 Relay. Cookie was also a member of the Robinson Teen Board modeling troupe and won 2nd Runner Up in the Miss Teenage Tampa Pageant in 1986 along with winning numerous dance competitions. In college she switched gears and competed in Bodybuilding while also participating in Intramural sports. She took 2nd Place in the Space Coast Bodybuilding contest in the Junior Division and won 1st Place in the Brandon Bodybuilding Championships in the Teenage Division. It is no surprise that Cookie has continued her involvement with sports in her adult life as well as serving on PTA and SAC at her children’s school along with serving on the Board in 2008 – 2010 for the Ophelia Project of Tampa Bay’s Boy’s Initiative. Cookie has a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Florida State University and is working towards her graduate degree.

Coach Mark

Mark Mitchell is a Tampa native and although he was not an athlete, has always been involved
with physical activity. He attended Lincoln High School in Tallahassee where he was a member of the Marching Trojans playing the Trumpet & Tuba. He was also a member of the Symphonic Band and Orchestra where he played the Trombone and Tuba. After graduation in 1985, Mark enlisted in the USMC Reserves. When he returned from boot camp he became a member of the FAMU Marching 100 and Kappa Kappa Psi Professional Music Fraternity. Mark played the Baritone “B-Tone Express” until being needed on the Tubas “White Whales”. During his time in “The Hundred” numerous national awards were won holding up the tradition of the FAMU Marching 100 being the best marching band in the nation. He also traveled to Paris, France with the band to help celebrate their national anniversary. In November of 1990 Mark was deployed to Saudi Arabia for “Operation Desert Storm” as part of the Gulf War. Since becoming a father and being married to a sports fanatic, Mark has been pulled into the world of coaching and has developed a passion for working with youth.

Coach Megan

Megan Hawk graduated from Lemon Bay High School in 2008, Englewood, FL. She’s been
playing volleyball since she was fourteen and coaching since she was sixteen. Megan played for her high school volleyball team for three years and in between seasons played club ball for Manatee Area Volleyball. In 2004, she was invited to play in Amsterdam, Holland at the 2004 People to People Sports Ambassador games. Throughout her six years of coaching, she’s worked with every age group from elementary school to high school. Her main focus has been on the middle school age group. She coached at her local middle school for two years with her JV coach and coached many mini leagues at the local YMCA. After high school, Megan moved to Tampa to attend the University of Tampa. After a year at UT, she found her passion and is now entering her second year at the Art Institute of Tampa pursuing a Bachelors of Arts in Culinary Management. Besides volleyball Megan also enjoys horseback riding, reading, and when she can, traveling around the world. After she graduates, she wants to open up her own dog bakery or manage a restaurant all while continuing to coach and play volleybal.

Coach Porsche

Porsche Carlisle is a graduate of Henry Ford High School in Detroit Michigan where she played Volleyball, Basketball and ran Track. She was voted to the All County team for volleyball. Porsche attended Virginia Union University on a volleyball scholarship and played Outside Hitter and Middle during her time there. She was voted All Conference in 2006 and helped her team win 2 Eastern Conference Championships. After graduating in 2007 with a degree in Criminal Justice she remained at Virginia Union as an Assistant Coach for the university’s volleyball program. Porsche also helped to conduct volleyball summer camps and clinics working with high school age girls.
Porsche likes working with youth because of the growth that you able to see from start to finish. She feels that youth possess the eagerness in learning that you rarely get to see. She would like to provide knowledge of the game through her own personal experiences as a player and coach.

Coach Marcus

Marcus Byrd is a native of St.Petersburg, Florida who has been in sports all his life. In middle school he played basketball, volleyball and ran track, where he was name captain for all teams. He received athlete of the year in 8th grade while winning MVP for basketball and volleyball. While attending Dixie Hollins High School he played basketball and track for 4years and also played football for 2 years where he kept a Grade Point Average of 3.0. His senior year he was named Althele of The Year, MVP in Basketball and was named to the ESPN Top 100 Basketball Players. He also won the 2nd Place award for the Mr. Florida Basketball Award. Marcus played college ball for St. Petersburg College and Delware State University. He played Semi-Pro Basketball overseas in Spain. Most recently, he has played Adult League Volleyball for the past 5 years and has served as the Commissioner for the Copeland Park Football League. Marcus also has a degree in the medical field as a X-ray Technician and plans to return to school to pursue Sport's Medicine.

Coach Elizabeth

Elizabeth grew up in Shreveport, LA where she played volleyball, softball and was a competitive swimmer at C.E. Byrd High School. She served 4 years in the U.S. Army playing volleyball in adult leagues with her unit and intramural volleyball at the base gym wherever she was stationed. At Tampa Baptist Academy she was Middle School volleyball coach and Girls Varsity softball coach in 2003 and 2004. Elizabeth was assistant volleyball coach at Leto High School from 2005 to 2008. In 2009 and 2010 Elizabeth was the volleyball coach at the Without Walls International Church youth sports program. Elizabeth has been involved in sports her entire life and is highly competative. She is very active in her church and community and believes that everyone has the potential to be great at something.

Coach Tycie

Tycie Watkins has a combined 20 years of leadership, advisory and coaching experience with
kids of all age groups and backgrounds. She has served as an active member and President of Board of Directors for a non-profit organization since 1997. As a mentor she has donated time, knowledge and financial support to assist in the betterment for at risk kids through this
organization. As a corporate leader and coach for the teen and sports ministry at her church it
has afforded her the opportunity to extend her coaching experience to the next level. She has
had a strong passion for volleyball since the first time she played at 10 years of age. At Horace Mann Jr. High she proved not only to be a good player but also good leader and was chosen team captain for the volleyball team. She attended volleyball camp at Stetson University multiple summers there she was chosen MVP in her age group. At Brandon Senior High she was one of two freshmen selected to start on the varsity squad. That year Brandon Senior High women’s volleyball team won 1984-85 State’s Championship. After high school she attended college in Atlanta, Georgia where she played for Morris Brown College. Tycie is committed to instilling the value of hard work and integrity both on the court and off the court.

Coach Sejla (Shayla)

Sejla Sutkoviic was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Jan,9 1983. She came to the USA in 1998 when her family fled the war. Sejla played volleyball and basketball in high school and for volleyball was named player with the most heart and most valuable player. She also won the basketball Regional Championship MVP award. Sejla was awarded a scholarship to go to
NCAA division II WVU TECH (WV) to play basketball and volleyball. She was team captain for Basketball and Volleyball and won the Most Valuable Player award. Sejla also played soccer and tennis in college and graduated with GPA 3.5. She also coached middle school basketball while also performing team manager duties. As Sejla served as a mentor to 10 – 15 students, the team had it’s best winning record that year. She looks forward to working with the Raptors to mentor young girls and lead them in a victorious season. Sejla has a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a Minor in Athletic Coaching Education.
